The cultural exchange programs that exist in the USA creates an opportunity for people from the African continent to experience a different way of thinking. It also provides the perfect opportunity to explore different cultures and meet people from all over the world.

Australia and the USA

In short, a J-1/407 visa is a non-immigrant visa issued by the United States/ Australia, its main purpose is to disseminate information; its goal is to give people training and experience that they can use to benefit their home countries. These Visas are issued to research scholars, professors and exchange visitors participating in programs that promote cultural exchange. All applicants must meet eligibility criteria, English language requirements, and be sponsored either by a university, private sector or government program.

HLP Holdings partnered with USA and Australian based Visa Program Sponsors to assist applicants with every possible need for a successful visa application.

Current Participants

To date, hundreds of Students from Southern Africa benefited from the Cultural Exchange program. The HLP team have already received 500 applicants for next year’s enrollment to the Cultural Exchange program. At this growth rate it is foreseen that another 2000 students will enroll successfully for the year 2020/2021 program. HLP facilitates the student’s whole journey in order to be a successful visa participant and gain the life enriching experience in a secure environment of a very well-organized exchange program. A student will make new friends and come back home with a broader perspective on life and its possibilities. This exposure accumulated will in turn be invested into the student’s country of origin.

Cultural Exchange Program

HLP is offering a loan funded, partially sponsored program to work/study and travel abroad and gain international experience. The internship functions in a wide variety of different fields, which consists of the following:

  • Hospitality Industry

  • Property Management

  • Film & Media Production and Management

  • Teachers

  • Mining

  • Engineering

  • AI (Artificial Intelligence) / IT

  • Butchery/ Blockman

  • Agricultural

  • Maintenance

  • Golf Courses (Cadies, Greenkeepers & General Maintenance)

  • Finance and Banking

  • Facilities Management

  • Call Centre

  • Estate Agents

The contracts are put together on the 3 -36 months basis, Ages for these programs will vary for the different programs.

The Visa sponsor is a committed Sponsor that always place participants with employers that offer more than just a job. The sponsor provides a 24/7 in country support service ensuring a fantastic experience. Students will be fully prepared to understand the program requirements and eligibility so that they can plan and budget their work and travel program accordingly. There will be no surprises except the ones that delight and excite them!

Your host, the business entity and person would be your employer with whom you had an interview whilst in South Africa.

You were prepared by the HLP team for this interview and the visa sponsor arranged for this interview to happen whilst you were still in South Africa.

A representative of the sponsor and/or a reviewed and accredited business entity and person who adhere to all regulations and stipulations within the Cultural Exchange program for interns and is willing to employ foreign interns.

A willing and able representation of the host company participant to the Cultural Exchange program will be responsible and act as your mentor during your 12 months internship abroad.

The participant will encounter secured, endorsed and managed employment environments. Be prepared to unlock internship and trainee programs, excellent opportunities for individuals to improve their skills and expand their global perspectives. Remember the aim of these programs is for participants to learn from different cultures and to gain experience.

There are some costs involved with the different programs which will be set out in more detail depending on the field of the program on request.

You will also be doing an additional learnership which is a SAQA qualification with the relevant credits, that can be aligned to doing a degree. By successfully completing this Learnership, up to R40,000 subsidy will go towards your loan, hence reducing your repayment burden. Should you fail to complete this Learnership the estimated R40,000 allowance will fall away, and you will be liable for this outstanding balance.
