In short, a J-1 Visa is a non-immigrant visa issued by the United States, its main purpose is to disseminate information. Its goal is to give people training and experience in the U.S. that they can use to benefit their home countries. J-1 Visas are issued to research scholars, professors and exchange visitors participating in programs that promote cultural exchange, with a current special focus on the hospitality industry within the U.S. All applicants must meet eligibility criteria, English language requirements, and be sponsored either by a university, private sector or government program.

HLP Holdings is a South African based holding company, housing subsidiary companies to form a collective effort for Finance, Insurance, Training, Up-Skilling, Travel and Recruitment of both South African students and employees.

Alliance Abroad is your licensed US Sponsor, who comply to all U.S. law related to the execution of the J-1 Exchange Program within the U.S. Alliance Abroad Group is a committed.

Your Host Employer
Your actual host as business entity and dedicated person, who would be your employer in the U.S. and with whom you will have an interview before leaving South Africa. You will be prepared by the HLP team for this interview. Alliance Abroad arranges interviews with these host employers to happen whilst students are still in South Africa. Alliance Abroad review and accredit these host businesses and persons in order to adhere to all regulations and stipulations within the J-1 Exchange program in order to unlock internships and employment opportunity with them as employers. These host employers are willing and able participants to the J-1 Exchange program who will be responsible for you and act as your mentor during your 12 months internship or training in the U.S.

HLP is there to provide every possible service and guidance in order for a student to travel, cover all risks and be able to sustain themselves until they return after 12 months, being an enriched individual with a new perspective on life.

Participants will encounter secured, endorsed and managed employment environments during their internship and trainee programs in the United States. All medical risks and evacuation during this exposure are addressed by the HLP team.
